What Poople is

Poople is a daily word ladder game. Each puzzle gives you a four-letter start word and asks you to reach POOP by changing exactly one letter at a time.

The format is inspired by classic word ladders and the habit of solving one small word puzzle each day. There is one shared daily puzzle, plus Unlimited practice when you want another route to solve.

How to play

Start from the word shown on the board. Enter a valid four-letter word that differs from the previous word by one letter, then keep building the chain until the word becomes POOP.

• Every guess must be four letters.
• Every guess must be a valid word in the Poople dictionary.
• Only one letter can change from the previous word.
• The shortest route is the goal, but any valid route that reaches POOP counts as a solve.

Why the target stays fixed

Keeping POOP as the target gives every puzzle the same finish line. That makes the daily score easier to understand: fewer extra moves means a tighter route.

The fixed target also keeps the game readable on mobile. You can focus on one small board, one current word, and one clear destination instead of learning a new rule set each day.

Daily, Unlimited, and answers

Daily mode gives everyone the same puzzle until the next reset. Unlimited mode uses the same rules with extra generated start words for practice.

Answer pages are designed to avoid instant spoilers. Today Answer starts with hints, then lets you reveal the shortest path only when you are ready.

How puzzles are produced

Poople generates its own word graph and schedule. The current build contains 5,395 connected playable words, 427 Daily candidates, and 889 Unlimited starts.

A build-time generator validates word length, one-letter adjacency, target connectivity, and shortest distance. Daily starts are selected from a stricter common-word list than the full bridge dictionary, so a word can be valid inside a route without being suitable as the first word shown to every player.

Sources and licensing

The base graph and start-word pools are built from the MIT-licensed word-list, random-words, @nkzw/safe-word-list, and wordlist-english packages, plus a small project-maintained bridge-word allowlist. POOP is added explicitly as the fixed target.

Poople does not import another game's schedule, answer archive, source code, images, or puzzle data. Generated output and source versions are documented in the repository so a future rebuild can be reviewed.

Review and corrections

The generator blocks explicit words from the playable graph and keeps a broader review list out of public starts. A separate dictionary audit checks proposed expansions for sensitive terms, names, abbreviations, malformed words, and changes to already published routes.

Puzzle or dictionary corrections can be reported to info@poople.org. Reports are checked against the generated graph and solver before the schedule or accepted-word list changes.

Site operation

Poople.org is independently built and operated as a browser puzzle. It is not operated by, endorsed by, or affiliated with poople.io. Poople.io is a separate service with its own product and puzzle schedule, and this site does not claim to be its official service.

The Poople.org operator maintains this game, guide copy, generated data, privacy disclosures, and correction process. The project does not import poople.io's schedule, answer archive, source code, images, or puzzle data.
